About Dr. James
Originally from San Jose, Costa Rica, Dr. Janis James earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She moved abroad to Puerto Rico to complete her optometric education at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry (IAUPRSO). She tutored fellow optometry students for 3 years while a student herself, and served as the inaugural president of her school’s chapter of the National Optometric Student Association.
Dr. James graduated IAUPRSO with honors, and returned to Atlanta, Georgia to further her optometric education. Dr. James completed a residency in ocular disease and ocular and refractive surgery at Woolfson Eye Institute. She is an active member of the National Optometric Association, where she serves on the NOA Tutoring Committee. Dr. Janis James is currently one of the lead optometrists at Eyeconic Family Eyecare, LLC.
